Train Handling Course

The Train Handling course is designed for Locomotive Engineers and Managers to gain a better understanding of proper train handling techniques on all types of grades.

Through the use of the Orca Railway System’ advanced simulator programs, students acquire mastery of good train handling and fuel conservation practices, leading to significant future operating economies. In-train force display enables trainees to see the draft and buff forces as they would be generated on a real train. Learning how to reduce these in-train forces leads to reduced damage to lading resulting in savings of time and money.

Upon completion of this course, students will have a solid overall knowledge of safe train handling practices with all types of trains including distributed power.
